Internships Careers

U.S. Internships | U.K. Internships

IMG's world-class Intership Program attracts thousands of candidates from around the world every year. Intern placements are based on candidate qualifications and IMG's current business needs. Interns are typically exposed to the day-to-day operations of specific departments, as well as general office procedures. Depending on the office location or division, interns may also be involved in locally sponsored IMG events.

U.S. Internship Program

Now in its seventeenth year in the U.S., the IMG Internship Program attracts over 1,500 applicants a year. The majority of our internships are located in Cleveland and New York. Intern placements are based on candidate qualifications and IMG's current business needs.

The 2008 Summer Program is from June 9 - August 1. Deadline for resume submission is January 31, 2008.

Application Process

A cover letter and resume will serve as the formal application to the program.  Applicants should specify in cover letter any preferences with regard to department placement or office location.  Requests will be taken into consideration during the placement process, but there are no guarantees that applicants will be placed in their department or office location of choice.

Candidates will be notified by mail in late February if they have been selected for an interview. All interviews take place during the month of March in Cleveland, New York or via the telephone (for those unable to attend a personal interview in either city). Final decisions and selection notifications are made by mid-April.

We respond to all resume submissions. For this reason, and due to the high volume of applications we receive each year, we ask that you not call IMG to follow up on our receipt of your resume.

Expenses

IMG will not be responsible for any travel expenses incurred during the interviewing process, or actual fees incurred throughout the summer such as housing, meals or parking.

Eligibility Requirements

All intern positions are non-paying. Academic credit should be received for the internship experience from a university or graduate school in lieu of compensation. This can be a formal course credit, or extra credit that a specific professor is willing to provide.  IMG requires confirmation of academic credit eligibility before granting an applicant an interview. Preferred candidates should be in junior standing or in graduate/law school.

Intern Activities

The interns will have several social activities scheduled throughout the summer. Executive Speaker Days will include various department personnel discussing their own IMG experiences, while also allowing the interns to participate actively in group discussions with the executives.

Non-Summer Semester Program Information

IMG also offers internships during the fall and spring semesters. These internships are part-time and typically last four months.  Applications for the fall and spring semester are accepted throughout the year.

Working Entitlement

If you are looking for an Internship within the UK you must have an EU passport and/or UK work visa. If you do not have full working entitlement you will need to arrange the appropriate documentation to allow you to be employed in the UK before applying for any internship. If your passport is not for an EU state you will need to enclose evidence of the appropriate UK working visa within your application. Applications from candidates without an EU passport and/or UK work visa will not be considered in our Internship recruitment process. Please note, IMG do not assist with the visa application process nor do we sponsor candidates.

Summer Internship | Graduate Internships

IMG's Internships have been successfully running for twelve years and are still proving extremely popular as the programmes attract over 700 applicants each year. The Internships are located at our European headquarters in London and are based on candidate's experience and IMG's current business needs.

Our Internship scheme offers an exciting opportunity to experience being part of the IMG team, offering a valuable insight into our business culture and building those all important skills required for your future careers. Whichever department you are placed in, you will be guaranteed a taste of life at the heart of IMG, working alongside fellow interns and experienced professionals on a variety of exciting projects. You will get an inside look at the people, methods and technologies at work and understand the value we place on quality and integrity.

We have two different types of Internships; our Summer and Graduate schemes both of which are detailed below. Therefore before you apply, please carefully consider which programme you are best suited to.

Summer Internship

Business Area | Intern Activities | Time Plan | Application Process | Terms and Conditions

Our 2009 Summer Internship runs for a period of eight weeks commencing on Monday 6th July and finishing on Friday 28th August. This programme remains highly competitive and each year there are a limited number of positions available. The intake of Interns each Summer is subject to change both in quantity and the business areas due to variable departmental requirements.

Business Areas

In 2008 we had a total of 16 Summer Interns who resided within the following departments:

Wimbledon
Golf Events
Golf Clients
Golf Licensing
Golf Academies
Entertainment Sales
Sales and Marketing
Media Sales
Finance
Digital
European Tour Productions
Worlds Strongest Man
Trans World Sports
Archive

Whilst completing your application form you will be given the option of selecting the business areas that interest you most, but please be aware business needs will always take precedence, therefore you are not guaranteed a role in your desired department.

Intern Activities

During the programme, in addition to the projects each individual will have in their own departments, Interns will get the chance to participate in a number of different activities:
  • Take part on a tour of Media House and get a behind the scenes look at our state of the art video and audio postproduction facilities that clients turn to for their complete production solution.
  • An excursion to Wembley Stadium, to learn about the most successful Sports Stadium Marketing project in Europe where IMG have undertaken a 25 year relationship with Wembley, of which 20 years remain.
  • Attend seminars given by Senior Executives who will talk about their own IMG experiences, whilst also encouraging you to actively participate in group discussions. These activities allow a unique insight into the workings of IMG and provide a rounded understanding of what the company does.
  • Orchestrate a summer corporate event in which all IMG employees can participate.
  • At the end of the programme each Intern will present to their line managers, and all the summer Interns, outlining what they have achieved during their Internship.

Graduate Internship

We also offer a graduate internship for recent graduates. These internships are dependent on business needs so may arise in any department at any time throughout the year. IMG's internship programme is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates wishing to pursue a career in the sports marketing industry. It offers the chance to work in a challenging and rewarding environment and, while there is no guarantee that an internship will lead to something more permanent, it can be a great stepping stone.

Each intern is asked to make a commitment of 3-6 months.

If you are interested, please download and complete the Graduate Internship Application form. Then send it with a covering letter and CV to the recruitment coordinator at ukinterns@imgworld.com.

We will keep it on file ready to submit to any Line Manager who requests the help of an intern. It can be quite competitive and placements are not necessarily available immediately so please be patient.

Terms and Conditions

The internship provides paid work experience. It is not a graduate recruitment scheme and there is no guarantee of a full-time or permanent appointment for interns.  However, interns are welcome to apply for any available vacancies during, at the end of, or after their time with us.  Many do go on to work at IMG or return later in their careers.

Detailed terms and conditions are available on application.  Current standard pay terms are  £230 per week for a 35-hour week, Monday-Friday (unless the placement forms an accredited part of fulltime studies).  It will be important to have access to accommodation within commuting distance of the London offices.   IMG will not be responsible for any travel expenses incurred during the interview process.
